Horn of Africa war

After the battle of Mogadishu United Nations pulled their forces out of Somalia on March 3, 1995 being the only thing holding the US back from attacking Mohamed Farrah Aidid forces on March 25, 1990 over 200,000 US soldiers United States along with over 100,000 Ethiopian soldiers attack Eritrea and SNA forces around Somalia Eritrea by the end of the week Mohamed Farrah Aidid was killed in a gunfight in Mogadishu within another month Mogadishu was secure and the SNA forces were destroyed.United States Navy assisted the Ethiopian military of massive bombing campaign against Eritrea crippling its military capabilities Ethiopia successfully invaded the capital city of Eritrea, Asmara in the next five months Eritrea was no longer a country. The United States, Ethiopia and the newly elected Somalian government began securing the region and by July 4, 1996 all rebels in Somalia in the former country of Eritrea had been put down United States contracted two bases in Somalia and one base in Ethiopia by July 25, 1997 United States pulled military forces out of the countryside and cities in Somalia leaving only 1,200 in each base the United States officially ending the Horn of Africa war.
